Seniors face Dubs in first round of Leinster
by Sheila Norris on the 10th of May 2019
The senior team travels to Dublin on Saturday, 11th May in the quarter final of the Leinster Championship. They will face the girls in blue in O’Toole Park, Crumlin with a delayed throw in time of 3pm. With a depleted squad through injuries and college exams and Dublin making strides every year, this is sure to be a tough opener. Under the guidance of Frank Browne, Dublin finished their Littlewoods Ireland League campaign mid table and will be hoping for good performances in Leinster before the Liberty Insurance championship throws in in June.
These two teams last met in the league when Kilkenny turned on the heat in the second half to come out victors in a tough gritty game, played in John Locke Park in January. Ann Downey will not be taking anything for granted and will be pushing for a good start. This team has a strong mix of new younger players interspersed with some of the more experienced names such as Ann Dalton, Denise Gaule and Katie Power. The winner of this match will face either Meath or Westmeath in the semi-final on Saturday, May 18th.
