Mooncoin blitz Ballyhale in big win

Mooncoin qualified for the Shaws Department Stores Intermediate Championship Semi Final after defeating Ballyhale in Grennan, Thomastown last Sunday morning
Mooncoin got off to the perfect start, when Deirdre Walsh’s shot from a 45m free over at the sideline deceived the Ballyhale defence and flew into the back of the net
Bri O’Donoghue scored Ballyhale’s first point from play after a free out from defence
Mooncoin scored the next four points through Deirdre Walsh (2), Lauren Comerford and Laura Wall
Jacqui Frisby and Laura Wall traded points. Then Ballyhale’s Jacqui Frisby took a 50m free towards the Mooncoin goal, Keeva Fennelly reacted quickest to the short ball and flicked it past the Mooncoin goalie to leave the score 1-5 to 1-2
Mooncoin didn’t panic and scored the last two points before half time through Laura Wall & Deirdre Walsh (f). The score was 1-7 to 1-2 at the interval
When Referee Seamus Quigley restarted the second half, Mooncoin were quickest out of the blocks again
The sliotar was played upfield from the throw in and Laura Wall scored a fine point. From the puck out, Lauren Comerford took a shot towards the Ballyhale goal, the keeper saved it and as she was coming out with the sliotar on her hurl, Niamh Crowley flicked if off her hurl and into the net to put Mooncoin nine points ahead
Lauren Comerford and Jacqui Frisby traded points. Deirdre Walsh added two points for Mooncoin. Over the next nine minutes, no scores were added to either tallies until Ballyhale cleared a ball upfield and found Mags Fennelly unmarked and she hit a rasper of a shot past the Mooncoin goalie
This was the last score of the match, leaving the final score 2-11 to 2-3 in favour of Mooncoin
