Captain Jenny Clifford put the icing on the cake with a great goal for the Boro which helped the Cityside qualify for the Michael Lyng Motors Hyundai Senior Championship Semi Final when defeating St Brigid’s in Jenkinstown last Saturday afternoon
Aoife Prendergast opening the scoring for the Boro with a point from play within the first minute. Leah Brett equalised for St Brigid’s with a lovely point on the run two minutes later
Asha McHardy and Aoife Prendergast added a point a piece for the Boro before Orla Ryan slotted over a point for St Brigid’s
Aobha O’Gorman and Prendergast tagged on a further two points for the Cityside before their Captain Jenny Clifford scored a great goal. The sliotar was cleared from the Boro defence, Jenny fielded it, turned her marker and hit a rasper of a shot across the goalie into the bottom left corner of the net
Asha McHardy and Ciara Phelan piled more pressure on St Brigid’s with another point each to put the Boro eight points ahead
Orla Ryan finished the first half scoring with a point from play for St Brigid’s to leave the interval score 1-7 to 0-3 in favour of the Cityside
On the resumption of play, Dicksboro continued where they had left off in the first half, completely dominating the new half. Rachel Dowling converted a 45m free for them. Then Niamh Phelan hit a fantastic point from her own 65m line
Lauren Ronan scored St Brigid’s only point in the second half from a 21m free after Leah Brett had been fouled
Amy Clifford added two points from play for the Boro before her sister Jenny fielded the sliotar and scored a great point
Dicksboro added another four points through Rachel Dowling (f), Aoife Prendergast, Aisling Browne and Amy Clifford to leave the final score Dicksboro 1-17 St Brigid’s 0-4
