Kilkenny Intermediates too sharp for Kildare in one sided affair

Kilkenny remain unbeaten in the Intermediate Championship as they claimed another impressive win, this time 18 point winners away to Kildare

The Lilywhites opened the scoring when Leah Sutton pointed in the opening minute. Kilkenny were quick to reply with Claire Doheny, Caroline Kennedy & Danielle Morrissey pointing for 0-3 to 0-1 lead by the 5th minute

Sutton got Kildare on the board again in the seventh minute with a pointed free. Doheny & Sutton then traded points

In the second quarter, Kilkenny took complete control, blitzing 2-5 without reply

Lauren Ronan and Aoife Cantwell added points, before Carlise Comerford & Niamh Crowley rattled the back of the net. Three Morrissey frees at the end of the half saw Kilkenny lead 2-9 to 0-3 at the break

The Cats continued the scoring at the start of the second half with points from Crowley & Morrissey before Caoimhe Ni Bhuirceal added a point for Kildare

Morrissey & Kennedy continued to add scores and by the end of the third quarter the lead was 2-15 to 0-4. Emma Mulhall only on the pitch less than three minutes, added Kilkenny’s third goal after a Danielle Morrissey free was batted out by the Kildare goalkeeper and Mulhall was quickest to react to flick it to the net

This was the visitors last score of the match, while Sutton would slot over two points for Kildare

A short time later, the Referee blew the full-time whistle with the score reading 3-15 to 0-6 in favour of Kilkenny

Kilkenny topped their Group and head straight to the All-Ireland Semi Final on 27th July in FBD Semple Stadium, They await the winners of next week’s Quarter Finals between Offaly v Meath and Galway v Kerry. A draw will be carried out after the matches to see who plays Kilkenny & Cork in the Semi Finals
