Champions ‘Boro get off to winning ways in title chase

Defending Champions Dicksboro opened their defence of the Senior Championship with a good win over Windgap. It was a repeat of last years County Final

Aoife Prendergast opened the scoring for Dicksboro in the 2^nd minute with a point form a 45m free. Prendergast added another pointed free four minutes later

Aobha O’Gorman scored a nice point for Dicksboro after Orla Hanrick took down a high ball and laid off a handpass to her

In the 11^th minute Ciara Phelan had drifted into the full forward position, she fielded the sliotar, turned and raffled the back of the Windgap net

Molly Walsh scored a fine point from play to open Windgap’s account, this was followed shortly after a point from a free for Windgap by Jenny Saunders

Then Aoife Prendergast slotted over three points from frees between the 15^th & 24^th minute.

Heading towards the interval, Dicksboro were awarded a free in the middle of the pitch and Amy Clifford slotted it over to leave the half time score 1-7 to 0-2 in favour of the City side

On the resumption of play, Rachel Dowling hit a lovely point for Dicksboro. Asha McHardy, Aoife Prendergast (f) and Amy Clifford added a point each for the Boro to push out the lead further

Ciara O’Shea pointed a free for Windgap, deflecting off Tara Clifford’s hurl

Then Dicksboro hit another three unanswered points from Asha McHardy & Aoife Prendergast (2f)

Ona Kennedy (U16 All Ireland Poc Fada Champion) scored a pointed free for Windgap heading towards full time to leave the final score Dicksboro 1-15 Windgap 0-4

Dicksboro play St Martin’s away next weekend and Windgap are at home to the Rower Inistioge
