Kilkenny defeated Dublin in the U16B Leinster Championship 2nd Round played in Grennan, Thomastown last Sunday
Moya Egan opened the scoring for Kilkenny with a point from play in the 1st minute. The homeside’s corner forward, Rachel Duff weaved through the Dublin defence and rattled the back of the net a minute later
Ailbhe Ni Casaide added another point for Kilkenny to leave the score 1-2 to 0-0 after 5 minutes
Dublin started to get into the match, through their Centre Back Kirsty Scanlon, who was clearing her lines, as Kilkenny came forward
In the 6th, 8th & 12th minute, Aoibheann Coughlan converted three frees for Dublin. Over the next 12 minutes, both teams tried to add to their tallies, but their defences stood strong until Aoibheann Coughlan converted another free for Dublin to leave the score 1-2 to 0-4
Kilkenny then got back in the scoring with a point from full forward Moya Egan. In the 28th minute, Rachel Duff replicated her first goal, weaving through the visitors defence before hitting an unstoppable shot passed the Dublin goalkeeper
On the stroke of half time, Kilkenny were awarded a penalty, Moya Egan hit it but it sailed over the bar to leave the interval score 2-4 to 0-4 in favour of the homeside
On the resumption of play, Kilkenny’s Laoise Kehoe converted a 45 metre free. Aoibheann Coughlan scored Dublin’s fifth point & final score in the 38th minute
Kilkenny then took complete control of the match, Moya Egan scored Kilkenny’s third goal, after her initial shot was saved by the visitors goalkeeper
Laoise Kehoe added another point for Kilkenny before Noa Bambrick converted a free for the homeside
Laoise Kehoe & Lauren Skehan closed out the scoring with a point a piece to leave the final score, Kilkenny 3-9 Dublin 0-5
