Dicksboro got their second win in the Michael Lyng Motors Senior Camogie League Championship when they defeated O’Loughlin Gaels in St John’s Park last Sunday morning
Aoife Dillon opened the scoring with a pointed free for O’Loughlin’s in the 1st minute
The Boro got their first score in the fourth minute, when Jenny Clifford ran at speed towards the O’Loughlin’s goal and she hit a rasper of a shot into the back of the net
Laura Greene slotted over a free for the homeside. Rachel Dowling added a point for the Boro after Aoife Prendergast initial shot had come back off the upright
Dowling added another point for the visitors before Orla Hanrick tacked on a further point for the Boro. Kate Lawless got a point back for O’Loughlin’s, but Aoife Prendergast then converted two frees, to put five points between the teams
Ruth Crowley scored a fine point for O’Loughlin’s after great team work between Aoife Dillon & Jennifer O’Keeffe to get in behind the Boro defence and Crowley slotted over the bar
The Boro finished the first half scoring, with Orla Hanrick & Aoife Prendergast over a point each, to leave the interval score in the Boro’s favour, 1-7 to 0-4
On the resumption of play, Asha McHardy & Aoife Dillon traded points. Over the next 13 minutes, the Boro hit a purple patch, when they scored six unanswered points. Aoife Prendergast hitting three points (2f), Rachel Dowling with 2 points and Amy Clifford a point. The Boro now led 1-14 to 0-5
Aoife Dillon did slot over two pointed frees for the homeside, but these points were the last scores by O’Loughlin’s as the Boro took complete control of the final quarter of the match
Boro midfielder, Aobha O’Gorman got the scoresheet with a point after a loose clearance from defence, found her unmarked
Aoife Prendergast slotted over a point from play after a neat pass from Orla Hanrick. Rachel Dowling then got onto the ball, from a Refs throw ball after a hold up in play for an injury and she tacked on a point
Asha McHardy added two points before two points before the flood gates opened. Orla Hanrick scored a great goal after the initial shot on goal was saved by the O’Loughlin’s goalie
Then heading into injury time, Asha McHardy hit a rasper passed the goalie from a tight angle. Amy Clifford had the final score of the match – another goal – from distance out on the graveyard sideline, which deceived the goalie and went into the net
Shortly after, the Referee blew the full time whistle with the Boro winning 4-19 to 0-7
There is a break next week, the Boro play Thomastown & O’Loughlin Gaels play Tullaroan when the League Championship resumes on the 7th September
