Dicksboro are Michael Lyng Motors Senior Camogie Champions after they defeated Piltown in UPMC Nowlan Park last Saturday
Aoife Doyle opened the scoring for Piltown with a point from play within the first minute. Jenny Clifford equalised for the Boro with a great point from a tight angle
Sophie Holden & Kellyann Doyle and Rachel Dowling & Amy Clifford slotted over points for the Boro, to leave the score 0-3 a piece after 10 minutes
The Boro then hit a purple patch, hitting 1-4 without reply. Rachel Dowling stared the ball rolling with a pointed free, then Aoife Prendergast slotted over a 50m free. Asha McHardy got on the score sheet with a nice point after a poor clearance from Piltown
Then in the 17th minute, Asha McHardy played the sliotar upfield to Jane Cass, who had ventured forward from the defence and hit a neat pass to an unmarked Rachel Dowling and she hit a rasper to the back of the net
Boro captain, Orla Hanrick slotted over a point from play before the southerners Aoife Doyle stopped the rot, with a great point from the Ardan de Gras sideline. Katie Power tacked on a point for Piltown before Asha McHardy closed out the first half scoring with a point for the city side to leave the score 1-8 to 0-5 in favour of the Boro
On the resumption of play, Jenny Clifford extended the city side’s lead with a lovely point from play. Kellyann Doyle then converted two pointed frees for Piltown
Asha McHardy slotted over her third point from play, to put the Boro six points ahead
Over the next 12 minutes, Piltown scored four points without reply, to bring the match back to a two point margin. The points coming from Katie Power (2), Kellyann Doyle (f) & Laoise McKenna. Then the Boro hit four points without reply, Rachel Dowling (f), Rose Kelly & Orla Hanrick (2)
Heading into injury time, Piltown’s Kellyann Doyle slotted over a point from play to them 5 points a drift
The full time whistle sounded a short time later & the Boro had reclaimed the Biddy Barry Memorial Cup & crowned Michael Lyng Motors Senior Camogie County Champions for 2025
Dicksboro head to the Leinster Senior Club Semi Final, where they will play Birr, Offaly on 2nd November in Grant Heating St Brendan’s Park, Birr @ 2pm
