Piltown 3-13 St Brigid’s 0-10
Reigning County Champions Piltown are through to the Michael Lyng Motors Senior County Final after defeating St Brigid’s in Thomastown last Saturday
Ellen O’Keeffe opened the scoring for Piltown with a point from play in the 1st minute. Kellyann Doyle converted a pointed free for the southern team, before Tara Cody scored St Brigid’s first point from a placed ball
Kellyann Doyle slotted over another free for Piltown after Sophie Holden was fouled. Ellen O’Keeffe added her second point for the southerners two minutes later
Lauren Ronan tacked on a free for St Brigid’s before Kellyann Doyle added another point for Piltown from a placed ball
In the 19th minute, Katie Power was fielded the sliotar in the St Brigid’s square, she was fouled and a Penalty was awarded. Piltown goalie Aoife Norris took the penalty and she planted it low under her opposite number and into the back of the net
St Brigid’s then hit the next three points through Tara Cody (f), Claire Doheny & Molly Conroy
Then in the 26th minute, Piltown got in for their second goal, when the sliotar was played onto Laoise McKenna, she dropped the sliotar and pulled the trigger & it rattled the back of the net
Heading towards half time, Piltown’s Heather Phelan got her name on the scoresheet with a lovely point from play to leave the score 2-6 to 0-5 in favour of Piltown
Within 40 seconds of the restart, Piltown were in for their 3rd goal, it coming from the hard working Sophie Holden. This put Piltown 10 points ahead
Tara Cody then converted two frees for St Brigid’s with Heather Phelan & Katie Power adding points from play for Piltown
Laoise McKenna scored a point from play for Piltown before Kellyann Doyle slotted a further two pointed frees for the southerners
Lauren Ronan (f) & Katie Power swapped points. Leah Brett & Claire Doheny tacked on a point each for St Brigid’s
Patsy Kenny finished the scoring with a fine point for Piltown to leave the final score Piltown 3-13 St Brigid’s 0-10
Piltown now head to the Michael Lyng Motors Senior County Final in two weeks against Dicksboro
