Abbott Intermediate County Semi Final

Danesfort 0-13 Emeralds 3-3
Danesfort are through to the Abbott Intermediate County Final after a hard-fought match against Emeralds in Pairc Lachtain, Freshford last Sunday
Danesfort started the match all guns blazing hitting the first four points, through Rachel Phelan, Niamh Davis, Eva Dunne & Olivia Mahony (f), but in the 12th minute, Lily Cleere hit a shot towards the Danesfort goal. The goalie batted the sliotar away, but full forward Emma Kenny was quickest to react and she pulled first time & the sliotar flew to the back of the net to put Emeralds on the scoreboard
Danesfort then hit the next two points from Eva Dunne & Olivia Mahony (45’)
Anne Dalton hit a fantastic point for Emeralds against the wind from 50 yards. Danesfort’s Niamh Davis hit the last score of the half with a point from play to leave the interval score 0-7 to 1-1 in favour of Danesfort
Anne Dalton had the first score of the second half with a pointed free for Emeralds. Niamh Davis added a point for Danesfort to put them three ahead. Over the next 12 minutes, both teams tried to add to their tally but both defences stood strong
Then in the 46th minute, Emeralds got in for a second goal, when a shot on goal was batted away by the Danesfort goalie and Lily Cleere was quickest to react to the loose ball & she rattled the back of the net. From the resulting puckout, Emeralds went on the attack again & Aoibhe Bourke was on the end of the through ball. She pulled first time and the sliotar flew into the top corner of the net
This put Emeralds now three ahead, Danesfort didn’t panic & they reeled off the next three points through the Mahony sisters, Olivia (2f) & Shauna, to equalise the match at 3-2 to 0-11
Anne Dalton scored another great point for Emeralds, after she burst out of a ruck and slotted over the bar. Olivia Mahony equalised with a pointed free
It looked like we were heading for extra time, Danesfort took a shot on goal but it was deflected out for a 45 & Olivia Mahony duly converted it, to send Danesfort into the Abbott Intermediate County Final in two weeks time against Mooncoin
