Junior C Cup Final
Thomastown 0 -12 Glenmore 0-09
A lovely sunny morning in Mullinavat set the scene for the final game in our Junior C competition. After convincing wins in the Junior C quarter finals and semi finals Glenmore and Thomastown qualified for the final. In what transpired to be an incredible battle, neither side were prepared to give an inch with super defensive displays from both teams in particular Glenmore’s Ella Talbot and Thomastown’s Sinead Galway, the teams went in at half time level with four points each. The second half was equally as competitive, two consecutive saves from Elizabeth Phelan in Glenmore’s goal and Aisleann Mullally’s accurate free taking kept Glenmore in the hunt, in what looked to be a game heading for extra time, but it was Thomastown’s ability to take points from play that ultimately was the difference, with late scores from Ellen Treacy and the Player of the Match Una Donnelly that got Thomastown over the line. A super performance from both teams who kept their supporters entertained right up to the final whistle.
