Kilkenny are top of the Centra Leagues Division 1A table with two wins from two. Following on from their impressive win over All Ireland Champions Galway, Kilkenny used home advantage on Saturday defeating Tipperary 0-15 to 0-10
Kate Ralph opened the scoring with a point in the 1st minute for Tipperary, this was followed a minute later by an Eimear McGrath free. This was Tipperary’s last score in the first half. Over the next 10 minutes, both teams tried to score, but both defences stood strong until Emma Shortall got in for Kilkenny’s first point in the 12th minute
Kilkenny took complete control. Aoife Prendergast equalised I the 15th minute with pointed free. Asha McHardy then put the homeside ahead with a fine point from play, a lead that they wouldn’t surrender
Emma Shortall got in for her second point after the sliotar came lose from a Ruck. Steffi Fitzgerald got on the scoresheet with a great point after a clearance out of defence from Michelle Teehan
Aoife Prendergast converted a free after the opposition’s defence were deemed to have touched the sliotar on the ground. Asha McHardy then hit three points in a row and heading towards the half time whistle, Caoimhe Keher Murtagh scored a great point. Aoife Norris took a free from defence, Caoimhe fielded the sliotar, turned and it went straight over the black spot
Steffi Fitzgerald slotted over a point to finish the fist half scoring leaving the interval score 0-11 to 0-2 in favour of the homeside
On the resumption of play, Aoife Prendergast converted another pointed free for Kilkenny. Tipperary then hit three unanswered points through Eimear McGrath (f), Danielle Ryan & Roisin Howard
Asha McHardy scored a point for Kilkenny after multiple shots on the Tipp goal were thwarted by their defence. Tipperary hit another three unanswered points from Eimear McGrath (f, 45) & Roisin Howard
Steffi Fitzgerald scored a lovely point over her left shoulder. Tipperary’s substitute Jean Kelly & Full forward Eimear McGrath (f) added a point each, but Player of the Match Asha McHardy scored her sixth point to leave the final score, Kilkenny 0-15 Tipperary 0-10
