U16A County Final, Sunday 11 October 2026
Erin’s Own 2-10
Rower-Inistioge 1-05
In front of a sizeable attendance in Clara, Erin’s Own claimed the U16A County Championship title following a 2-10 to 1-05 victory over Rower-Inistioge. The excellent conditions and quality playing surface helped produce a highly competitive final that showcased the quality of underage camogie currently being played in Kilkenny.
The Castlecomer side laid the foundation for victory during a strong opening half, building a 1-06 to 0-02 lead by the interval. Rower-Inistioge battled hard throughout, but Erin’s Own maintained their advantage during the second half to secure county honours and complete an impressive U16A League and Championship double.
The first-half scoring was led by Eilis Bollard, who contributed 1-03, while Katie Harnett, Megan Harding and Zara Renwick also added points. Rower-Inistioge stayed in touch through scores from Lily Belle Sheehan and Aine Lonergan.
Rower-Inistioge emerged with renewed purpose after the break and enjoyed their best spell of the game. Points from Meabh Kenny and Lily Belle Sheehan, together with a well-taken goal by Eimear Cottrell, kept them in contention. Erin’s Own, however, continued to find scores at important times, with Eilis Bollard adding a further 1-02 in the second half and support arriving from Sarah O’Gorman and Zara Renwick.
For Erin’s Own, the victory continues the story of a group that has enjoyed significant success in recent seasons. Having won the U14A Championship in both 2024 and 2025, the same core of players went on to capture the National Féile A title in 2026. Sunday’s success adds the U16A Championship to this year’s league title and represents another significant achievement for a group that has consistently challenged for honours over the past three seasons.
There was also much to admire in the contribution of Rower-Inistioge. Their appearance in this final is further evidence of the excellent work being carried out throughout the club. This year alone they captured the U14B County Championship and Kilkenny Féile B title, while also reaching county finals at both U16 and Minor level. The progress being made across all grades is clear to see, and the commitment of players, coaches and volunteers is yielding tangible results.
In the end, Erin’s Own were deserving champions, but both clubs emerged with considerable credit from an excellent county final. The skill, determination and respect shown throughout by players from both sides provided a fitting conclusion to the underage season and reflected the excellent work being carried out in both clubs.
