Kilkenny Intermediates are through to the Leinster Final after beating Offaly in St Rynagh’s GAA Pitch, Banagher last Saturday
Kilkenny were first out of the blocks registering the first three points through Ciara O’Shea in first minute which was quickly followed up with Laura Murphy and Caoimhe Dowling (f) by the 4th minute
Offaly’s Dara Hanamy scored their first point in the fifth minute from a 30m free. Play moved from end to end over the next five minutes when Caoimhe Dowling pointed a free for the visitors and they went further ahead when Eadaoin Murphy fired over a nice point on the 11th minute
The home side replied through Dara Hanamy with 2 points from play within 2 minutes to leave the score at the end of the first quarter 5 points to 3 points in favour of the Black & Amber girls
There was a lull in scoring until the 19th minute when Kilkenny were awarded a 20m free which was converted by Caoimhe Dowling. The home side replied with a similar score through Dara Hanamy 2 minutes later but again the visitors pushed further ahead when Laura Murphy, Christine Lyng and Eadaoin Murphy added to their tally
Caoimhe Dowling added 2 pointed frees to have the half time score Kilkenny 0-11 Offaly 0-4
On the resumption of play, the home side shot to the net through Dara Hanamy, but the visitors replied with a minor score by Lydia Fitzpatrick
Caoimhe Dowling added a further point from a free a minute later to show the scoreboard reading KK 0-13 Offaly 1-4
Laura Murphy added a point from play after a lot of nick and tuck over the next eight minutes and when Lydia Fitzpatrick fired over a nice point for the visitors with normal time up to have the score 0-15 to 1-4 in favour of Kilkenny. The forementioned player tacked on another 2 points in additional time for Kilkenny while Louise Mannion replied with a point for the home side to see the final score reading 0-17 to 1-5 in favour of Kilkenny
Next up is the Leinster Final against Carlow on Sunday 2nd June in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise @ 2pm
