This was a fantastic match played in a very fine spirit and great commitment by both teams and greatly helped by the excellent referring of Sean Cleere. Windgap opened with a very strong start scoring the 1st goal and 4 points in quick succession from Michaela Kenneally and Denise Gaule. Thomastown were slow to respond but got into their stride with points from Niamh Donnelly, Eimear Farrell, Sinead Brennan and Eimear Donnelly. Windgap then scored their 2nd goal but spurred on by midfielder Anna Farrell Thomastown came back into the game to cut the deficit to 2 5 Windgap to 8 pts Thomastown at half time
Thomastown dominated the 2nd half but were not putting the scores away. Points by Blathnaid Galway who was creating great opportunities and Niamh Donnelly and Eimear Farrell they pulled away. Then Eimear Farrell scored a great goal having been put through by a great pass by Therese Donnelly. Roisin O Keeffe wrapped up the game with a goal. Further points by Eva Hynes (2) and Niamh Donnelly saw Thomastown win by a score line of 2-17 to 2-8. Anna Farrell was the stand out player with her aerial catches the high light of the game followed by Niamh Donnelly, Ciara and Eimear Farrell, Joanne Fitzpatrick and Sally Teehan all turning in committed performances. Best for Windgap were Margaret Purcell, Catherine Foley, Denise Gaule and Michaela Kenneally
