All Ireland camogie joy for three in a row conquering Loreto

Loreto Kilkenny were crowned Allianz All Ireland Post Primary Schools Senior A Champions for the third year in a row and for the 10th time when they defeated St Patrick’s Maghera in TUD Grangegorman, Dublin last Saturday

Mary Therese McCullogh opened the scoring for Maghera with a point from play in the 4th minute (one of only two scores from play in the first half). Ona Kennedy equalised for Loreto in the 6th minute. It was level pegging all the way through to the 29th minute as both sides exchanged points from frees through Emma Quinn & One Kennedy and then Kennedy fired home a goal after being played in by a neat handpass from Shauna Mahony to put the Loreto ahead for the first time heading towards the interval. The half time score being Loreto 1-4 St Pat’s 0-4

On the resumption of play, St Pat’s were first to raise a flag when Katie McCloskey pointed from close range but it was quickly negated when Ona Kennedy fired over from a free

The Northern team exerted a lot of pressure on the Loreto girls and drew level after Emma Quinn landed three unanswered points, two frees and one from play by the 44th minute

However shortly after the Loreto were awarded a free from their own 40 metre line and Joint Captain Anna Doheny landed a powerful point from all of 100 metres. Aoife Shealy added a point from play two minutes later to push the Kilkenny girls two points clear with 10 minutes remaining

Emma pointed a free for St Pat’s while the Loreto added a point through Holly Ryan and Ciara Dunne rounded off the scoring for Loreto when she rattled the net in the 58th minute. St Pat’s had their final score of the game as Emma Quinn added her eight point on the stroke of full time. This gave the final score 2-8 to 0-10 in favour of the Loreto girls
