Kilkenny 1-13 Cork 3-10

Kilkenny faced Cork in the 3rd Round of the Electric Ireland Minor A All Ireland Championship in MW Hire Training Centre, Dunmore last Sunday
Kilkenny got off to the perfect start, with only 35 seconds gone when Ciara O’Shea got in behind the Cork defence and pulled first time and the sliotar flew into the back of the net
Rachel Murphy scored Cork’s first point in the second minute & Tara Goulding added their second point a minute later to leave a point in it
Lucy Boyd converted two frees for Kilkenny in the 5th & 8th minutes. Emily Phelan had a shot on goal deflected out for a 45’, which Boyd duly converted for Kilkenny
Molly Conroy scored another point for Kilkenny, after she ran at speed towards the Cork goal, she hit a rasper and the Cork goalie had to deflect it over the bar
The homesides midfielder Eleanor Doheny scored two excellent points to put Kilkenny 1-6 to 0-2 ahead after 15 minutes
When it looked like Kilkenny were going to take control of the match, Cork got in for a goal. A Kilkenny defender was blocked down as she tried to clear the sliotar, Clara Murphy hit a rasper past the Kilkenny goalie to get Cork back into the match
Catherine Murphy added a point for Cork & they were now taking control of the match. Shona Cronin converted a free for the Rebels before Rachel Murphy slotted over the bar for another point for the visitors to leave the minimum 1-6 to 1-5 in favour of Kilkenny at the Interval
On the resumption of play, Lucy Boyd scored a fine point for Kilkenny from play. Then Shona Cronin converted a free for Cork
Kilkenny slotted over the next two points through Ona Kennedy & Lucy Boyd, before Shona Cronin converted another free for the Rebels
Ona Kennedy tagged on two points from placed balls for the homeside. Ava McAuliffe slotted over a point from play for Cork
In the 51st minute, Kilkenny tried to clear their lines, but Shona Cronin got in ahead of Kilkenny’s goalie & tapped into the net, but as the Kilkenny goalie has tried to clear the sliotar, she turned awkwardly and went down injured
Molly Conroy scored a great point to equalise and then Ona Kennedy slotted over a point to put Kilkenny ahead again by a point
In the 59th minute, Shona Cronin got in for her second goal for Cork, swinging the match back in the visitors favour. Then Cork’s Captain, Rachel Murphy rounded off the scoring with a point from play to leave the Rebels victorious on a scoreline 3-10 to 1-13
Kilkenny will now play in a Quarter Final on March 30th, opposition to be confirmed
