U17 Development Round Robin

Kilkenny 3.12 Cork 4.15

Cork had an impressive first half helped by a strong wind in Mooncoin despite Kilkenny’s best efforts to close the gap in the second half.

It was Cork who opened the scoring in the 1st minute with a point from Meabh Fitzgerald.  A few minutes later Kilkenny’s Eilish Keating struck the net followed by a point from Blaithnaid Keane. Cork’s Rachel Morrisson levelled the game in the 6th minute with a goal.  Cork added points from Cornellia Buckley, Teegan Murphy, Buckley again and Lucy Beechner before Kilkenny’s Laura Treacy found the back of the net in the 13th minute.  Cork went on to add further points from Morrisson and Murphy (f) then Morrisson struck the back of net again in the 16th minute.  A minute later Sarah Kelleher also found the net and Murphy pointed her second free.  Kilkenny’s final score of the first half came from Aisleann Mullally when she pointed a free in the 20th minute.  Cork added further points from Morrisson, Casey Lane and Lilly Buckley before the interval.

Half time score: Kilkenny 2.02 Cork 3.12

Cork’s Fitzgerald had the first point in the second half but it was Kilkenny who dominated the next 20 minutes of play.  Kilkenny chipped away with points from Keating, Aoibhe Bourke, Mullally (2fs), Katie Dunphy and Farrell when in the 43rd minute Mullally once again stood over a placed ball and dropped in it the back of the net.  Mullally, Treacy and Farrell (2) kept the scoreboard ticking over by adding further points.  Then late in the second half and almost 25 minutes since Cork last scored Morrison added to her tally with a point followed in quick succession by a point from Kilkenny’s Katie Dunphy.  The final score came from Cork’s Aoibheann Lynch with a goal in the 60th minute of game.
