Laois Camogie have organised a friendly match between Laois Camogie Senior Team and the Regional Finalists of the Rose of Tralee on Saturday 30th May in O’Moore Park, Portlaoise (throw-in 11.00am). The match is in aid of the Cuisle Cancer Support Centre, Portlaoise. While the Laois Camogie Board, Players and Management, are delighted to get this opportunity to showcase our game in conjunction with one of the most well known and loved events on the Irish calendar and are urging all Camogie Clubs and our brothers in the GAA to support the event.
This game is about physical activity and that is why we are promoting it through the schools for the younger age groups and have organised ‘Go Games’ at half-time in conjunction with Cumunn na mBunscol. The match is all about fun, about working together as a team and looking out for one another. The Laois team will be split in two as will the Roses – so each team will be made up of half & half. We want our younger audience to understand what it is like to help one another out, that it is ok to take-part in something that’s not your forte, to have fun and laugh. We believe strongly in the message that A Healthy Ireland is promoting, where everyone can enjoy physical and mental health and wellbeing to their full potential, where wellbeing is valued and supported at every level of society and is everyone’s responsibility. This match, in my opinion, will be a win-win for all those supporting it while at the same time benefiting a great cause – Cuisle Cancer Support Centre. One in three will develop Cancer in their lifetimes, a disease which has touched all of our families at some time.
Your support in promoting in what will be a great event is greatly appreciated
