John Lockes 7-7 Dicksboro 1-8
O’Sullivan’s five-star blitz rattle the Boro
John Lockes defeated Dicksboro in the Gaeltec Minor A County Final in Pairc Lachtain, Freshford last Saturday evening
Just before the throw in, the heavens opened, but it didn’t deter John Lockes who went on a scoring spree from the start, scoring 5-3 without reply
Aisling O’Sullivan opened the scoring, when she rattled the back of the net after a minute. Corner Forward Caoimhe Kelly slotted over a point before O’Sullivan hit a hat trick of goals in the space of 7 minutes
The forementioned O’Sullivan then pointed a 45’, while Caoimhe Kelly scored a great point from the stand sideline
Then in the 23rd minute, Emily Phelan piled more misery on the ‘Boro when she ran at speed towards the goal and hit an unstoppable shot passed the keeper
The ‘Boro then stopped the rot momentarily, slotting over three points through Sophie O’Riordan, Megan Trait & Eva Tynan (a lovely point from the stand sideline)
John Lockes got in for another goal when Caoimhe Kelly received the sliotar from a long clearance, she ran along the end line, then cut back in field and took aim & found the back of the net
Heading towards the half time whistle, Emma Hogan tacked on a pointed free for the ‘Boro to leave the interval score 6-3 to 0-4
On the resumption of play, Boro scored two points through Cara Duggan & Aoibhin Deegan
Aisling O’Sullivan slotted over a pointed free for John Lockes. The ‘Boro got in for another two points from Aoibhin Deegan & Megan Trait
The hardworking Rachel Whelan tacked on a point for the Lockes. Laura Treacy scored a goal for the ‘Boro after the initial shot by Cara Duggan was saved
Aisling O’Sullivan slotted over two points for the Lockes. As full time approached, Rachel Phelan took a sideline for John Lockes, it flew towards the ‘Boro goal, O’Sullivan fielded the sliotar, turned and the net rattled
The referee blew the whistle, shortly after with John Lockes being crowned Minor A County Champions on a 7-7 to 1-8 scoreline
