Danesfort are Abbott Intermediate League Champions after defeating Barrow Rangers last Saturday in John Locke Park, Callan
Barrow Rangers opened the scoring with Rebecca Holden getting in for a goal after 2 minutes. Danesfort started to settle into the match after the early set back of conceding the goal. They hit four points through Niamh Davis (3f) & Rachel Phelan
Roisin Breen (f) & Collette Dormer tacked on points for Barrow Rangers before Olivia Nahony equalised with a point from a 45
Then in the 20th minute, Niamh Davis ran at speed towards the Barrow Rangers goal and she hit a rasper of a shot to the net, this put Danesfort three points ahead

Heading towards the half time whistle, Anna Purcell sent a clearance from the Barrow Rangers defence, it flew over the Danesfort players heads, Ellie Fenlon ran onto the ball & she hit an unstoppable shot pass the Danesfort goalie into the net. This left the interval score level Danesfort 1-6 Barrow Rangers 2-3
Danesfort scored the first point of the new half through Lisa Fitzpatrick. Barrow Rangers scored the next three points from Roisin Breen (f), Miriam Bambrick, which was a great point while surrounded by multiple Danesfort defenders & Shauna Treacy
Then Danesfort scored three points through Niamh Davis (f) & Olivia Mahony (2f)
Roisin Breen then converted two pointed frees for Barrow Rangers to put them a point ahead, but this was their last score of the match
Niamh Davis got in for her second goal for Danesfort. She also converted a pointed free before substitute Deirdre Phelan scored the assurance point to leave Danesfort winners 2-12 to 2-8
Attention now turns to the Championship Quarter Finals next weekend, where Danesfort will play Ballyhale Shamrocks & Barrow Rangers will play Conahy Shamrocks. In the other Quarter Finals, Emeralds will play St Lachtain’s and Mooncoin will play Glenmore
